Camp Carolwood is offering a full eight-weeks of Summer Camp! Carolina Cross Connection will be here for several weeks as well!

There will be two-weeks of Horse Camp; two-weeks of Day Camp; one-week each of Village, MADD Camp, Outdoor Camp and now a week of Family Camp. See individual camp descriptions below! Horseback riding will be a part of all overnight camps. Of course, we will still have our gymnasium, pool, ropes course, rock climbing wall, and crafts to make each day fun-filled for our campers.

More importantly, our desire is to nurture the spiritual growth of our campers. Our curriculum, “Handle with Care,” talks about how God made us for relationship—with Himself, with each other, and with creation. During the week through different discoveries, worship experiences, and activities, campers will deepen their understanding of what it means to be in a loving relationship with all three.

The week will begin with the creation story in Genesis 2. There, God establishes us as His caretakers of the land. He sets the expectations for us to follow His call and commandments. God also shows the importance of our relationship to one another as helpers and companions.

God made all of creation to be good, as campers will learn in the study of Genesis 1. Everything He created was done with order and specific purpose. We are to fulfill our roles as caretakers in a way that maintains God’s intentions for creation to be good.

From Genesis 6-9, campers will visit the story of Noah and see our failure to uphold our role as caretakers—how our sinfulness disrupted God’s intention for creation to be good and ordered. Our failure to be obedient and to maintain God’s order has shown us to be a people in need of a Savior, in need of redemption.

In Luke 12, campers will see how God provides for all of creation; our only true need is to trust in our Savior, Jesus Christ. Trusting God to provide for our physical needs allows us to focus on Him and His will.

Campers will learn about the responsibility we have to be good stewards of the things He provides in and for creation. Matthew 25 shows the importance of utilizing God’s provision to the fullest for His purpose and glory. When we do that, God entrusts us with even more.

At the week’s end, “It’s all Good News.” Jesus’ resurrection makes a way for peace and wholeness in all relationships and restoration of all creation. In Mark 16, we are told that everyone who believes in the risen Christ would be created anew through the cleansing waters of baptism. We find hope in this Good News and are called to share it with others.

Throughout the week, campers will experience and discuss an environmental connection to the “scripture of the day” such as wise stewardship of creation, simplicity vs. material wealth, the balance between consumption and conservation, and the web of life.

Village Camp

Campers will hike and stay in cabins on the Camp Carolwood property. Meals will be provided in the Buffalo Dining Hall. Campers will have access to all the facilities on site - the gymnasium, pool, craft shack, and challenge courses. Each cabin group will experience Outdoor Camp by "camping out" one night of the week and preparing their own dinner by campfire that evening (weather permitting). They will also do some horseback riding, have entertainment from a Christian band and other exciting "special" entertainment. Friday Night’s Celebration will be a special A/V presentation of the week.
